The fault tree is a graphical representation of the basic causes interactions that may result in a hazardous or undesirable event. It is developed by the use of deductive logic. From a specific event, we build a logical diagram in the reverse sequence, adding branches and sub-branches for the probable causes until we reach the basic causes or primary events, for which the occurrence probability or the failure frequency are available or can be estimated with the common sense and required criteria.<\/p>\n
The fault tree analysis (FTA) is the most common technique used by the chemical, petrochemical, aviation and nuclear industry sectors for events quantification.<\/p>\n
