or arise due to abnormal situations. The consequences of an explosion can vary a lot: burns on living beings, fatalities, ignition at other parts of the installation, melting and collapse of structures, total rupture of vessels, displacement of equipment and buildings, projectiles launching, domino effect, etc. In addition to the intensity of the phenomenon itself, the damage done will also depend on exposure time, construction type, distance and biological profile.<\/p>\n<p>The team involved in a particular project or responsible for a specific plant operation, needs define first what will be the protection philosophy to be adopted, i.e. whether the protection system will act before, during or after the explosion.
